**Paul Weller** Born on May 25, 1958, in Sheerwater, Surrey, England, Paul Weller is a British rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is recognized as a national institution in England, largely due to his songwriting, which is deeply rooted in English culture. Weller was a central figure in the Mod revival and led two influential bands during his career. As the frontman of The Jam, he became a prominent figure in the punk era, influencing numerous English rock musicians, including those in the mod-revival scene and later bands in the 1980s and 1990s. In the final days of The Jam, Weller developed an interest in jazz and soul music, which led him to form The Style Council in 1983. As The Style Council evolved, his musical interests shifted towards jazz-pop and house music, resulting in a decline in audience and the band's eventual split in 1990. Weller launched his solo career in 1992, and by the mid-1990s, he had released three successful albums that were both critically acclaimed and popular in England. His influence continued to be acknowledged by contemporary bands, while he was recognized as one of the few rock veterans who maintained his relevance into the second decade of his career.
