Paul Winter Consort, formed in 1967 by Paul Winter, is one of the earliest exponents of world music, blending elements from various African, Asian, and South American cultures with jazz. The group was initially known as The Winter Consort but changed its name to The Paul Winter Consort by 1980. Over its more than 40-year history, the Consort has experienced numerous personnel changes, with sax player Paul Winter being the only constant member. The group has won a total of four Grammy Awards, starting with "Spanish Angel" in 1994, followed by "Silver Solstice" in 2005, "Crestone" in 2007, and "Miho: Journey to the Mountain" in 2010.
