Paulino de Jesus Santos Vieira, known as Paulino Vieira, is a renowned composer, orchestrator, multi-instrumentalist, and singer, recognized as one of the greatest symbols of Cape Verdean music. He is celebrated for his compositions, including "M'cria Ser Poeta" and "Um Minute D'Silence," the latter being a tribute to his father. Vieira is also known for his famous rhapsody that features notable mornas, bringing together prominent Cape Verdean artists such as Bana and Dany Silva. He played a pivotal role in launching Cesária Évora's career, serving as the arranger and producer for her key albums. In 1995, he contributed to one of Évora's most successful concerts at Bataclan in Paris, which is remembered for its bold orchestrations, his remarkable piano interpretations, and brilliant improvisations with the vocal harmonica, particularly during the performance of "Rotcha Scribida." Born on August 31, 1956, in Aldeia da Praia Branca, São Nicolau, Cabo Verde, Paulino Vieira remains a significant figure in the music of his homeland.
