Pazy & The Black Hippies were a Nigerian rock band from Warri, Bendel State, Nigeria, active in the mid-1970s and led by songwriter Joseph Etinagbedia, known as Pazy. The band initially showcased a distinctive style of harder rock, infused with elements of Nigerian music, characterized by a visceral vocal style and psychedelic funk. Their debut self-titled album, recorded in 1976 by producer Odion Iruoje, features five tracks from their early days, blending funky pre-disco rhythms with light-headed fuzz guitar in Pazy's celebratory and somewhat psychedelic tunes. Although the band later shifted towards reggae in their subsequent releases, their debut album captures a unique and inspired moment in their hard rock journey.
