Pecos Kanvas, born on November 11, 1953, in Caracas, Venezuela, was a renowned singer who made significant contributions to the music scene, particularly in the romantic ballad genre. He began his musical journey at the age of 15, participating in church youth choirs and later joining Alfredo Ledezma's show and the group Escena. Four years later, he was given the stage name Pecos Kanvas by Rudy Márquez, a name he carried throughout his career. Kanvas gained fame for composing themes for telenovelas at RCTV, with his breakout hit "Tu cariño se me va." He spent 12 years at Venevisión, where he appeared on the program Sábado Sensacional under the mentorship of Amador Bendayán while continuing to write songs for the channel's telenovelas. Although he also performed protest songs, his biggest successes came in the 1970s and early 1980s with romantic ballads, including the famous "Entrégate," featured in the telenovela Emilia. He took a temporary hiatus from music in 1987 but returned in 1990 with "Tesoro Mío," a lambada-style song. In 1991, he released the album Mar y Luna, which embraced the tecnolambada genre with hits like "Mar y luna" and "Todo el mundo necesita amor."
