Throughout her life, she was married four times, including a marriage to songwriter and bandleader Dave Barbour from 1943 to 1951, which ended in divorce. Lee received an Academy Award nomination for her performance as a hard-drinking singer in the jazz saga "Pete Kelly's Blues" (1955) and contributed to the music for the 1955 Walt Disney animated classic "Lady and the Tramp." She is perhaps best known for the song "Fever," which reached #8 in the U.S. and #5 in the U.K. in 1958, becoming synonymous with her legacy as a singer. Her highest-charting song was "Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)," which hit #1 in 1948, while "Golden Earrings" and "Riders in the Sky (A Cowboy Legend)" both reached #2 in 1948 and 1959, respectively. Over her career as a solo artist, she charted forty-five times between 1945 and 1992, and she also had chart success with duets with Mel Tormé and Bing Crosby, as well as three collaborations with Gordon Jenkins and His Orchestra in 1952
