José María Peñaranda was a Colombian composer born on March 11, 1907, in Barranquilla, Colombia. He was known for his contributions to popular coastal music, including genres such as cumbia, porros, merengues, and other Caribbean styles. Peñaranda passed away on February 6, 2006.
