Peregoyo y su Combo Bacana were a pioneering Afro-Colombian ensemble from the Pacific coast, celebrated for blending traditional currulao rhythms with modern tropical and dance band arrangements. Led by Marino Luis “Peregoyo” Rodríguez, the group became one of the first to bring the marimba-driven sounds of Colombia’s Pacific region to national and international audiences in the 1960s. Their recordings captured the vibrant fusion of African, Indigenous, and Colombian coastal influences, leaving a lasting legacy in Latin American and world music.
