Pete Namlook, born Peter Kuhlmann on November 25, 1960, in Frankfurt, was a significant figure in electronic and ambient music during the 1990s. He passed away on November 8, 2012, at the age of 51 from a heart attack. After completing his education in composition at Goethe University, Namlook began his career in Frankfurt playing in an electronic ensemble associated with the new age and electronic scene, producing albums such as "Romantic Warrior" (Frog, 1985), "Himalaya" (Frog, 1986), and "Planet" (Blue Flame, 1988). In 1991, he transitioned to a disc jockey career in techno music and adopted the moniker Pete Namlook. His single "True Colours" marked a turning point in his career. He launched his own label, Fax, and released his first album, "Silence" (Fax, 1992), in collaboration with Dr Atmo, which was one of the first albums available exclusively on compact disc. Namlook recognized the importance of music production over recording and dedicated himself to discovering, encouraging, and promoting ambient electronic artists. In its first year, his label released over 100 records and CDs, with the name "Fax" symbolizing the fast and inexpensive distribution of ideas. His double albums featured lengthy ambient suites influenced by Germany's kosmische school of the 1970s, as well as late 1970
