Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez was born on January 31, 1933, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He began his career as a percussionist before becoming a singer and band leader known as El Conde (The Count). He released his first album in 1963, but his success grew significantly with his recordings in the early 1970s after leaving his previous group. He passed away from heart failure on December 1, 2000, in New York. He was also the father of an unnamed individual.
