Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez was born on January 31, 1933, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He began his career as a percussionist and later became a singer and band leader known as El Conde (The Count). In 1963, he released his first album, but he gained significant success with his recordings in the early 1970s after leaving his previous group. He passed away from heart failure on December 1, 2000, in New York. He was the father of an unnamed child.
