Pete Terrace, born on February 6, 1927, in New York, New York, was an American composer, arranger, vibraphonist, drummer, and percussionist known for his contributions to Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban jazz. He earned the title "The King of Latin Jazz" and was born to Puerto Rican parents. After 1969, he withdrew from the music scene and returned to anonymity, becoming Pedro / Peter Gutierrez and practicing medicine in Puerto Rico.
