Peter Bjorn And John is a Swedish indie rock trio formed in Stockholm in 1999, consisting of members Peter Morén (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Björn Yttling (bass guitar, keyboards, vocals), and John Eriksson. The band initially gained attention due to Björn's production background and the members' guest appearances with more well-known artists. They released their first EP, "Forbidden Chords," in 2001, along with singles "Failing and Passing" and "I Don't Know What I Want Us to Do," after signing with the Beat That! label. Their debut self-titled album in 2002 featured popular tracks like "Matchmaker" and "People They Know," which resonated with the indie-rock community. In 2004, they followed up with "Falling Out," a darker and more mature album that included the hit "It Beats Me Everytime," which gained airplay on Swedish radio. The band's breakthrough came with the 2006 album "Writer's Block," showcasing all three members as songwriters and lead vocalists. The first single from the album featured vocals from a member of The Concretes and received significant attention prior to its release.
