Peter Tevis (10 February 1937 – 13 September 2006) was an American folk singer known for his contributions to the soundtracks of composer Ennio Morricone. Born in California, Tevis moved to Italy in the 1960s, where he met Morricone and proposed a collaboration. His 1962 recording of Woody Guthrie's "Pastures of Plenty" became a minor hit and was later reworked by Morricone into the title theme for the iconic Spaghetti Western film "A Fistful of Dollars," directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood, although Tevis did not provide the lyrics for this version. Tevis and Morricone continued to work together on various recordings, with Tevis lending his voice to songs in several Spaghetti Westerns, including "A Gringo Like Me" from "Gunfight at Red Sands," "Lonesome Billy" from "Guns Don't Argue," and "Per un Pugno di Dollari" (A Fistful of Dollars). In the 1970s, he also produced audio recordings aimed at training different families of songbirds to talk. In his later years, Tevis battled Parkinson's Disease, which severely affected his voice.
