Phantasy, originally known as DJ Steve, began his career in the late 80s as a ticket seller for Dave Lambert's Phantasy rave. After the owners of Phantasy were arrested, he sought permission to adopt their name as his DJ moniker. He also worked at the Lucky Spin record shop, further immersing himself in the rave scene.
