Phase II is a New Jersey group brought to their label by a figure known as Blaze, who worked at the Movin' record store in East Orange, along with his production partner. In a 2014 interview, Abigail Adams described the group as "three young men." The members of the group are listed as two individuals, with the third member featured on the cover of their work. This third member had previously collaborated with Blaze on a project in 1987 and went on to record with them again in 1989.
