Phil Upchurch was an American soul and rhythm 'n' blues guitarist, born on July 19, 1941, in Chicago, USA. He was a prominent member of the Chicago music scene since the early 1950s and was well-respected as both a performer and a teacher. Upchurch's significant contributions to music can be heard on projects by various artists, including Bobby Blue Bland, as well as countless soundtracks and other projects. He passed away on November 23, 2025, in Los Angeles, California.
