Phil Collins is a British pop rock musician, known for his work as a drummer, singer, pianist, songwriter, and actor. He was born on January 30, 1951, in Chiswick, London, England. Collins was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. He is best known as a member of Genesis, which he joined in 1970 as a drummer, later becoming the lead vocalist in 1975 following the departure of the previous frontman. In 1981, he began a solo career while still being a member of Genesis. Collins has three children: one with his first wife (marriage ended in 1978), two with his second wife (married on August 4, 1984, marriage ended in 1994), and twins with his third wife (married in 1999, divorced in 2008). His brother was a renowned cartoonist and illustrator who received an MBE.
