Phil Ochs was an American folk singer and songwriter born on December 19, 1940, in El Paso, Texas. He was active throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Tragically, Ochs died by suicide on April 9, 1976, in Far Rockaway, New York, at his sister's home. He was known for his impactful music during a significant era in American history.
