Phil Perry is an American soul, funk songwriter, singer, and keyboardist, born on December 1, 1952, in Springfield, Illinois. He began his solo career in the late 1980s after the demise of a duo he had been part of, which included members of an early 70s soul group. In 1985, he married a fellow singer. Throughout his career, Perry has also contributed as a backing vocalist on a wide range of artists' recordings.
