Phil Woods was an American jazz alto saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, and bandleader. Born on November 2, 1931, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he made significant contributions to the jazz genre throughout his career. Woods passed away on September 29, 2015, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, at the age of 83.
