Philip Upchurch was an American soul and rhythm 'n' blues guitarist, born on July 19, 1941, in Chicago, USA. He was a prominent figure in the Chicago music scene since the early 1950s and was well-respected as both a performer and a teacher. Upchurch's contributions to music can be heard on various projects, including those by Bobby Blue Bland and numerous soundtracks. He passed away on November 23, 2025, in Los Angeles, California.
