**Bio: Phillip Frazer** Phillip Frazer, born on February 12, 1951, in Whitfield Town, Kingston, is a prominent figure in the reggae music scene. Inspired by Rastafari in his late teens, he began growing his locks and was influenced by notable artists from his hometown of Greenwich Town, including Herbert Chang, Earl Zero, Sammy Dread, and Bertram Brown. Phillip's musical journey began with his first single, “This Time,” produced on the Libra label, inspired by the late Slim Smith. He co-founded the legendary Freedom Sound label with Bertram Brown, which launched the careers of several renowned artists such as Earl Zero, Michael Prophet, Sammy Dread, Prince Allah, Rod Taylor, and Soul Syndicate. In addition to Freedom Sound, Phillip established other labels, including Root Tradition and Cornerstone, before creating his own label, Razor Sound. Under Razor Sound, he produced songs for artists like Eeka Mouse, Tristan Palmer, the late Ranking Toyan, Scion Success, and his son, Ras Fraser. Phillip gained recognition for tracks such as “Blood of The Saints” on the Real Rock Rhythm, “Never Let Go,” and “Watch this Sound,” the latter two dedicated to Slim Smith. He also recorded impactful songs like “Mr. Wicked Man” and “Come Ethiopian” for Freedom Sound and Roots Tradition, respectively, which resonated in Europe.
