Phillip Mitchell, born Leroy Phillip Mitchell on June 27, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, is an American singer-songwriter known for his contributions to R&B music. By 1978, he had moved to the West Coast to record two albums for Atlantic Records. His debut album, "Make It Good," released under the name Prince Phillip Mitchell, produced two singles that charted on the R&B charts: "One On One / Only Smoke Remains" and "You're All I Got In The World / Falling From Heaven." In 1979, he released a follow-up album titled "Top Of The Line," which also yielded two charting singles: "Let's Get Wet / Paying The Price" and "If It Ain't Love It'll Go Away / I'm So Happy." During this period, Phillip contributed two solo tracks and a duet with Eleanore Mills on Norman Connors' 1977 album "Romantic Journey." He also provided ghost vocals on Ray Barretto's Atlantic single in 1978. It wasn't until 1986 that he released his next album, "Devastation," for Ichiban Records, which he recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound. He wrote the entire album, and the track "You're Gonna Come Back To Love" became a minor hit. Phillip made an appearance in the UK in 1988, and he released another Ichiban album titled "Loner" in 1991.
