Phirpo y sus Caribes is a band led by accomplished Venezuelan salsa band leader known as Phirpo, a name derived from Porfi spelled backwards. Their primary funk effort, "Parilla Caliente," features various covers of popular songs reworked with a distinct Latin flavor. The album opens with an energetic cover of Fela Kuti’s “Let’s Start,” titled “Comencemos.”
