Phon.o, known for the dot in his name and a dubby background, began his journey in the early 90s alongside his friend Apparat in the rugged Harz mountains of former East Germany. His rise to prominence came after moving to Berlin in the early 2000s, where he started releasing EPs on the Californian label Cytrax and his new home, Shitkatapult. Phon.o is recognized for his unique blend of sounds, drawing from hip hop, dub, Baltimore, house, dubstep, and techno. His energetic live and DJ sets often feature a digital and itchy edge, captivating audiences worldwide across Europe, Asia, and America. His reputation earned him a residency at one of Berlin's most notorious clubs, known for its unparalleled music selection. His collaborations and releases on esteemed labels such as Boysnoize Records, Bpitch Control, Tectonic, and 50WEAPONS include his seminal album "Black Boulder." Phon.o has had the privilege of working with notable figures in electronic music, including Diplo, Modeselektor, Funkstörung, Mixhell, Apparat, and Sinkane. He is also involved in advancing music technology, participating in workshops by leading companies like Native Instruments and Ableton, and contributing crafted sounds to their products.
