Piano Red, also known as Dr. Feelgood, was an American blues pianist and singer born on October 19, 1911, in Hampton, Georgia. He was the younger brother of Rufus Perryman and began his recording career in 1950, producing a prolific body of work until his death. In 1936, he made recordings backing other artists, but these were left unissued. For many years, he performed regularly at Underground Atlanta, where he was recorded live for several releases. Piano Red passed away on July 25, 1985, in Decatur, Georgia.
