**Picchio Dal Pozzo** is an Italian progressive rock group, centered around the nucleus of members including the younger brother of Vittorio from New Trolls, along with various external collaborators. Their debut album, released in 1976 under De Scalzi's label, is one of just five releases from this collectible label, featuring contributions from numerous artists in Genoa. Often likened to the Italian Canterbury sound, their first album, *Picchio dal Pozzo*, showcases a unique blend of sounds characterized by keyboards and horns, accompanied by surrealistic lyrics and vocal effects. The album is noted for its originality and stands out distinctly within the Italian progressive rock scene. After a four-year hiatus, the band released *Camere Zimmer Rooms* in 2001, which features high-quality recordings from the 1977-1980 period, including the irreverent track "Il Presidente," critiquing the then President of Italy. Their second official album, released in 1980, came out on a different label following their collaboration with Stormy Six and the Rock in Opposition movement. This album continues to explore complex rhythm changes and diverse influences, and includes a flexi single. Over the years, many musicians associated with Picchio dal Pozzo have continued their careers, resulting in a new four-piece lineup featuring De Scalzi, Griguolo, Lugo, and Di Marco, which released *Pic_nic @ Valdapozzo* in 2004.
