Pieces of a Dream is a musical group founded in 1975 by James K. Lloyd (keyboards), Cedric Napoleon (bass), and Curtis Harmon (drums). Initially performing under names such as 'Classic Touch', 'A Touch of Class', and 'Galaxy' in Philadelphia, they changed their name to 'Pieces Of A Dream' in 1979, inspired by the Stanley Turrentine tune “Pieces of Dreams.” The group gained recognition after being discovered by Grover Washington, Jr. while serving as the house band on the TV show "City Lights." Washington produced their first three albums: Pieces of a Dream, We Are One, and Imagine This. Following the completion of their last album for Elektra, Joyride, they transitioned to EMI/Blue Note, where they recorded seven additional albums. During this time, Cedric Napoleon amicably parted ways with the group. In 2001, they signed with Heads Up International and have since released four albums: Acquainted with the Night, Love's Silhouette, No Assembly Required, and Pillow Talk. The current personnel includes Lloyd, Harmon, Eddie Baccus Jr. (saxophone), Todd Parsnow (guitar), and Tracy Hamlin (vocals). The group has been managed by the drummer’s father and uncle, Danny and Bill Harmon, respectively.
