Pier Paolo Pasolini was an Italian film director, poet, journalist, and political activist, born on March 5, 1922, in Bologna, Italy. He passed away on November 2, 1975, in Ostia, Rome, Italy. In April 2014, the Vatican described his film "The Gospel According to St Matthew" (1964) as "the best film ever made about Jesus Christ." His murder remains surrounded by contradictory accounts.
