Piero Piccioni was born in Torino on December 6, 1921, and passed away in Rome on July 23, 2004, at the age of 82. He was the son of an eminent judge and initially practiced law before choosing to pursue a career in music. A talented pianist and organist, Piccioni played frequently for friends in the Italian film industry. It was director Michelangelo Antonioni who first encouraged him to compose for films. He began his career under the pseudonym Piero Morgan, specializing in a soft jazz style, particularly for comedian and director Alberto Sordi. Throughout his career, Piccioni collaborated with notable directors such as Alberto Lattuada, Vittorio De Sica, Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini, and Francesco Rosi, contributing to films including "I Dolci Inganni," "After The Fox," "The Stranger," "Salvatore Giuliano," "Le Mani Sulla Citta," "Il Momento Della Verità," "Il Caso Mattei," and "Cronaca Di Una Morte Annunciata."
