Piero Umiliani was an Italian composer born on July 17, 1926, in Florence, Italy. He passed away on February 14, 2001, in Rome, Italy. Throughout his extensive career, Umiliani composed and recorded 190 soundtracks, 40 library albums, and 35 TV title themes. He gained international recognition in 1959 for his work on the soundtrack of "I Soliti Ignoti" (Big Deal on Madonna Street), which featured Chet Baker on trumpet and was a pioneering example of jazz music in Italian comedy films. Umiliani became famous for his song "Mah Nà Mah Nà," originally composed in 1968 for a Mondo documentary about Sweden, which gained worldwide popularity when performed on The Muppet Show in 1977 and was also an anthem for the Benny Hill Show. He was involved in scoring many exploitation films during the 1960s and 1970s across various genres, including spaghetti westerns, Eurospy films, Giallo, and soft sex films. In 1970, he founded Liuto Edizioni Musicali, his own publishing company, and a recording studio. The first album released under this label was "Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso," which included "Mah Nà Mah Nà."
