Pietro Grossi (15 April 1917, Venezia, Italy - 2002, Firenze, Italy) was an Italian composer and cellist. He established the studio 2SFM in 1963, which provided technical support for his courses at the Florence Conservatory from 1965 to 1973. Between 1969 and 1972, Grossi worked at the Centro nazionale universitario di calcolo elettronico (CNUCE) in Pisa, where he compiled computer programs for performance and composition. From 1963 to 1967, he focused on exploring electronic materials with mathematically planned parameters, often drawing inspiration from past compositions, particularly those of Bach. This approach culminated in "Musica algoritmica" (1964), a two-hour work that juxtaposed five structures at a constant intensity, marking the first major work created by the studio 2SFM team.
