Pinduca, born on June 4th, 1937 in Igarapé-Miri, Pará, Brazil, is a Brazilian Carimbó singer and composer. In the early 1970s, he modernized the traditional Paraense rhythm of Carimbó by incorporating brass instruments, electric guitar, and bass. From 1973 to 1990, Pinduca produced LPs almost every year and composed and arranged songs for other artists in Northern and Northeastern Brazilian music, collaborating with producer Carlos Santos at the Gravasom label. Notably, in 1976, his band recorded the first example of the "Lambada" rhythm on his fifth LP, which later gained popularity in the 1980s.
