Pino Presti is an Italian bassist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, conductor, and record producer for Italian TV. He made history in 1988 by becoming the first musician to earn a 5th Dan 'black belt' in Shotokan Karate from the World Union of Karate-do Organizations. Son of a noted violinist, he was introduced to music at the age of six and began his career as a singer and bass player, being the first in Italy to play the Fender Jazz Bass. Presti played with many of the best Italian arrangers and was a permanent member of various ensembles before his career evolved into composing, arranging, and conducting. His significant collaborations span jazz, pop, funk, soul, and Latin music, with notable contributions including the bassline in a famous composition. Pino Presti is regarded as one of the most important Italian arrangers and conductors.
