Plastic Bertrand, born on February 24, 1954, in Brussels, Belgium, is a Belgian musician, songwriter, producer, editor, and television presenter. He made his debut in the punk band Hubble Bubble and gained massive fame in 1977 with his hit “Ça Plane Pour Moi,” which became the second-ever French language single to enter the Billboard Top 100, reaching number 47. There have been longstanding rumors regarding his vocal performance on this track, as he was allegedly unable to make it to the recording studio on time, leading to producer Lou Deprijck taking over the vocal duties. In July 2010, Bertrand admitted that Deprijck was indeed the voice on the hit, but in 2017, both claimed to be the singers. In the early 1980s, he participated in the musical “ABBAcadabra,” inspired by ABBA songs, where he performed “Mon nez, mon nez,” set to the music of “Money Money Money.” He represented Luxembourg in the 1987 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Amour Amour,” which scored 4 points, placing 21st out of 22. In 1988, he had a hit with “Slave To The Beat,” which became popular and was covered by the Presidents of the United States of America during live performances.
