Chris Reed, known as Plastician (formerly Plasticman), is a DJ and producer based in Thornton Heath, Croydon. He is the owner of Terrorhythm Recordings and is recognized as a pioneer in both London’s Grime and Dubstep scenes. With a career that spans the early days of these genres, Plastician has made significant contributions to the evolution of electronic music. He hosts a prime-time weekly radio show on Rinse FM, where he has been the longest-standing DJ for 13 years, helping the station transition from a pirate station to legal status. His show is one of the most popular podcasts on Rinse FM’s Soundcloud. Plastician has also been part of BBC Radio 1’s “The Residency” and “In New DJ’s We Trust,” during which he continued his Rinse FM show under the alias “Blue Stripe.” As a producer, Plastician has collaborated with notable artists such as Wiley, Snoop Dogg, M.I.A., JME, and Skepta. He is known for being the first DJ to play tracks by emerging artists like Mura Masa, Joker, Om Unit, AWE, and Rustie, continuously discovering and showcasing new music that spans the bass music spectrum. Through his label, Terrorhythm Recordings, he has introduced acts like Joker, Om Unit, AWE, GANZ, and Louis Futon to a global audience.
