The Players Association was a disco and funk band formed in 1977 by a jazz drummer and producer, based in New York City. Comprising seasoned jazz musicians from the vibrant local music scene, the group operated out of their headquarters and recording studio in Manhattan, where they created much of their music during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their sound was heavily influenced by the disco craze of the era, blending elements of funk, jazz, and soul. The band's self-titled debut album, released in 1977, featured the hit single "Disco Inferno," which became a favorite on dancefloors. Other notable tracks include "Turn the Music Up," "The Get Down Mellow Sound," and "Everybody Dance." Although The Players Association did not achieve the same level of mainstream success as some of their contemporaries, they enjoyed popularity among disco and funk fans and are now considered a cult classic band of the disco era.
