POiSON GiRL FRiEND is a Japanese solo music project by Noriko Sekiguchi, who was born in Tokyo, Japan, raised in Brazil, and educated in French schools. Noriko found her musical inspiration in London, UK, where she became captivated by the house music scene of the mid to late 1980s. After returning to Tokyo, she introduced this music to the city's clubs as a DJ. The POiSON GiRL FRiEND project, characterized by a house and breakbeat-infused pop and R&B sound, has released multiple albums that received minor commercial and critical acclaim. Recently, Sekiguchi's solo work and her contributions to an obscure group have seen a revival among Japanese music enthusiasts exploring 90s CD releases.
