POiSON GiRL FRiEND is a Japanese solo music project by Noriko Sekiguchi. Born in Tokyo, Japan, and raised in Brazil, she received her education in French schools. It was in London, UK, where Noriko first discovered the music that would influence her own work, becoming captivated by the UK and US house music scene of the mid to late 1980s. After returning to Tokyo, she introduced this music to the city's clubs as a DJ. The POiSON GiRL FRiEND project, characterized by a house and breakbeat-infused pop and R&B sound, has released multiple albums and garnered minor commercial and critical acclaim. Sekiguchi's solo music, along with her contributions to an obscure group, has seen a small revival among Japanese music enthusiasts exploring 90s CD releases.
