Pop Dell'Arte is a musical project founded by João Peste in 1985. That same year, they achieved notable recognition by placing 2nd at the Rock Rendez-vous Music Contest, where they won the originality prize and garnered critical acclaim along with a dedicated fan base. The project's essence is captured in the line "Il faut aimer les contradictions" from their iconic song, "Illogik Plastik," reflecting a transgressive spirit that fuses diverse musical influences with phonetic poems inspired by Dada and futurism, as well as references to artists like Warhol, Duchamp, and Picabia, and filmmakers such as Fassbinder, Antonioni, and Fellini. Over their 30-year career, Pop Dell'Arte has released more than a dozen records, including "Free Pop" (1987), "Ready-Made" (1992), "Sex Symbol" (1995), and "Contra Mundum" (2010). They have performed at significant venues in Lisbon, such as Rock Rendez-vous, Aula Magna, Music Box, Ritz Club, Cinema Alvalade, and Forum Roma, as well as in Porto and various cities across Portugal and abroad, including Barcelona, London, and Vigo.
