Posthuman is a duo consisting of cousins Richard Bevan and Joshu Doherty, based in East London and Glasgow, respectively. They debuted in 2000 with a series of handmade CDs titled "Posthuman," recognized by the colors of their card inserts—grey, black, blue, and brown. Between 2001 and 2004, they hosted several parties in an abandoned underground train station in London and founded their own label, releasing three albums along with various other projects featuring their material and that of other artists. They were also the first act on Manchester-based imprint's SMAK sublabel. In 2006, Doherty left Seed Records to help relaunch a UK techno imprint and started a new label in 2010. He founded the acid-focused club night "I Love Acid" in 2007, named after a track by another artist, where Posthuman serves as resident DJs. The event won "Best Club Event" in DJ Magazine's Best of British awards in 2019. In 2014, "I Love Acid" launched a vinyl-only label of the same name. Additionally, Doherty performed as one half of live shows between 2015 and 2020 and has been working for a pressing plant since 2021.
