Premature Ejaculation was an experimental noise project that began in 1981, created by Rozz Williams and an unnamed collaborator. Operating without musical equipment, they experimented with household objects and lo-fi devices. Despite not releasing any recordings due to negative experiences with record labels associated with Williams' other band, they performed live and were featured in a photo article in Michael Gira's No magazine. After Athey left the project to pursue a career as a performance artist, Premature Ejaculation continued with Williams and Lee Wilds. Williams also collaborated with unnamed individuals and Kris Fuller on installations credited to The Happiest Place On Earth. When Wilds departed, Collision joined the group, leading to increased use of electronic equipment and improved recording facilities. They began documenting their recordings as Collision started a cassette label, which was later renamed. The project was included on a compilation LP, and a friend of the group established a label to release their first LP. As they gained wider recognition, they released additional works on various labels, although live performances became less frequent. In later years, their performances often featured other collaborators, such as Erik Freeman. Rozz Williams passed away in 1998.
