Primal Scream is an alternative rock band formed in 1982 in Glasgow, Scotland. The band initially featured Bobby Gillespie, who contributed 'elemental noise' from 1982 to 1984 and has been the lead vocalist since 1984. Andrew Innes joined as a guitarist in 1986 and continues to perform with the band. Darrin Mooney has been the drummer since 1997. Over the years, Primal Scream has seen various members come and go. Notable former members include Jim Beattie, who played guitar from 1984 to 1988, and Robert 'Throb' Young, who was with the band from 1984 until his passing in 2014. Martin Duffy, who played keyboards from 1989 until his death in 2022, was also a significant part of the band. Other former members include Judith Boyle, Martin St. John, Thomas McGurk, and several others who contributed to the band's evolving sound. Primal Scream is known for their unique blend of musical styles and has maintained a presence in the alternative rock scene for several decades.
