Prince Lincoln Thompson was born on July 10, 1949, in Jones Town, Kingston, Jamaica, and passed away on January 14, 1999, in London, England. He was a talented roots singer known for his soaring falsetto and profound songwriting, particularly active in the late 70s and early 80s. Despite his abilities, he did not achieve the same level of success as many of his contemporaries. Thompson began his music career as a singer in a rocksteady group with a friend and collaborator. After becoming a Rastafarian in the mid-70s, he formed a vocal group with Myton and other harmony singers. His breakthrough came when he signed with Ballistic Records in 1979, leading to the release of his classic LP "Humanity." Although he toured extensively in support of his follow-up album "Experience," commercial success eluded him. His subsequent album "Ride With The Rasses" also failed to achieve commercial recognition. A collaboration on "Natural Wild" resulted in a costly commercial failure that contributed to Ballistic's bankruptcy, prompting Thompson to return to Jamaica and withdraw from the music scene. In the 1980s, he returned to London, where he opened The Rasses Fish & Grocery Store in Tottenham. He recorded one final album, "21st Century," in 1997.
