Prince Phillip Mitchell, born Leroy Phillip Mitchell on June 27, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, is an accomplished singer and songwriter. By 1978, he had moved to the West Coast to record his first of two albums for Atlantic Records, titled 'Make It Good.' This album produced two singles that charted on the R&B charts: 'One On One / Only Smoke Remains' and 'You're All I Got In The World / Falling From Heaven.' In 1979, he released a follow-up album called 'Top Of The Line,' which also featured two successful singles, 'Let's Get Wet / Paying The Price' and 'If It Ain't Love It'll Go Away / I'm So Happy.' During this period, Mitchell contributed two solo tracks and a duet with Eleanore Mills on Norman Connors' 1977 LP 'Romantic Journey.' He also provided ghost vocals for Ray Barretto's Atlantic single in 1978. After a gap, he released his next album, 'Devastation,' for Ichiban in 1986, recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound, which he composed entirely. The album included the minor hit 'You're Gonna Come Back To Love.' He made an appearance in the UK in 1988 and released another album, 'Loner,' in 1991.
