Professor Longhair

Professor Longhair was an American pianist, vocalist, and songwriter born on December 19, 1918, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He passed away on January 30, 1980, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Considered the creator of New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, he was musically active from 1949 to 1964 and made a comeback in the early 1970s. In 1992, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an Early Influence.
