Psychic TV is a post-industrial music group formed in 1981 in Hackney, London, by Genesis P. Orridge and others after the disbandment of a previous project. The group quickly became known for its eclectic style, collaborating with various artists, which led to the release of the classic 1983 album "Force the Hand of Chance." After the departure of key members Peter Christopherson and John Balance in January 1984, Psychic TV's sound shifted towards psychedelic and acid rock, a style they referred to as "hyperdelic" rock. In 1987, following another lineup change, they moved back to a more electronic-based sound, collaborating with artists such as David Tibet and others, and became prominent in the acid house scene with various compilations and releases under different names. Despite extensive touring and recording, the band faced challenges, including a move to the USA in 1993, the closure of their independent label in 1994, and the separation from key members, leaving Genesis P. Orridge as the only permanent member. The name "Psychic TV & Genesis P-Orridge" was used for several re-releases and experimental projects before Genesis formed a new group with others.
