Public Enemy is an American hip hop group that was founded in 1985 in Long Island, New York. The group consists of members Chuck D, who serves as the MC and has been with the group since its inception, and Flavor Flav, also an MC since 1985. The original DJ, Terminator X, was with the group until 1998, after which DJ Lord joined in 1999 and has been a member ever since. Professor Griff, who acts as the 'Minister of Information' and occasionally serves as an MC, was part of the group from 1985 to 1989 and returned in 1998. The Security Of The First World (S1W) serves as an associate non-music group and has been with Public Enemy since 1985. The group was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame as a performer in 2013.
