Pumice is the long-running experimental music project of New Zealand artist Stefan Neville, active since the early 1990s. Known for his lo-fi, home-recorded soundscapes, Neville layers tape hiss, distorted melodies, and fragile vocals into a raw, intimate form of psychedelic folk and noise pop. His music—recorded on cassette and released on labels such as Soft Abuse and his own Stabbies and the Rocket—has earned international recognition for its inventiveness and emotional depth, standing as a cornerstone of New Zealand’s underground music scene.
